Forecast for precipitation for Asia for October-December 2011, issued in mid-September. Color shading indicates the probability of the most likely category. The histograms show the probabilities of all three categories in selected regions (see the key). White areas over land indicate no shift in the odds from climatological (33.3%, 33.3%, 33.3%) probabilities. Pink areas indicate where climatologically very low precipitation amounts are expected during the season, and no forecast is given. Enhanced probabilities for above normal precipitation were forecast in the Maritime Continent, and for below normal precipitation in central southwest Asia.
